AJAC Honours Volvo's XC90 With Prize

Volvo Cars Canada is elated with the recent announcement of the Volvo XC90 winning the Best Large Premium Utility Vehicle in Canada for 2023 from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). This accolade follows the success of the XC40 Recharge, which won AJAC's Green Utility Vehicle of the Year title just last year. Through their expert evaluations and assessments done in Canadian conditions, AJAC aims to equip customers and buyers with information that can help them make informed decisions when purchasing a car.

The 2023 Canadian Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards considered a wide range of vehicles, from newly redesigned models to those that have been carried over from previous model years. Over 1700 ballots were submitted by AJAC experts who tested entries on various evaluation parameters such as acceleration, braking, vehicle dynamics, and maneuverability. The XC90 was presented with the Best Large Premium Utility Vehicle award due to its luxurious features, stylish design, and important standard safety features - making it a worthy choice in the Large Premium Utility segment.

“We’re pleased to see the continued recognition from the experts at AJAC,” said Matt Girgis, managing director, Volvo Car Canada Ltd. “With its long and esteemed history, the XC90 continues to impress, and we are thrilled to add this award to what has become a growing list of accolades for our brand.”

2023 Volvo XC90

Volvo Canada has announced that every Volvo car in Canada for the 2023 model year will feature mild-hybrid, hybrid or electric powertrains with preinstalled Google technology. The flagship XC90 SUV is equipped with the new B6 mild hybrid powertrain as standard and complements the existing extended-range plug-in hybrid powertrain. The latter, the XC90 Recharge, can deliver 455 hp with 523 lb-ft of torque and accelerate from 0-100 km/h in approximately 5.3 seconds, along with a single-charge pure electric range of up to 53 kilometres. Additionally, it provides access to a seamless integration of Google’s Assistant, Maps and Play services for an enhanced connected driving experience.

The Volvo XC90 has clearly proven itself to be a worthy choice in the large premium utility segment by taking home AJAC’s Best Large Premium Utility Vehicle award for 2023. Not only is it equipped with luxurious features and stylish design, but also has important standard safety features that make it stand out from its competitors. With every Volvo car now featuring mild-hybrid, hybrid or electric powertrains along with preinstalled Google technology, customers can enjoy an enhanced connected driving experience without compromising on performance and efficiency.
